The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore

I’m Done with The Nightly Show

The Nightly Show with Larry WilmoreI’ve generally enjoyed The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, but I’ve never been a big fan of the racial tendencies. Well last night The Nightly Show finally put me over the edge, and I think I’m done, it’s become apparent that this show is not for regular people, it’s for regular black people. It reminds me of a comedian from a couple decades ago who would try to generalize everything in order to make racial jokes.

Last night Larry Wilmore’s show was about the Baltimore riots following Freddie Gray’s death. He started out strong by calling out Fox News for not being able to relate and using racial stereotypes, but then he himself started doing the very same thing. It seems a little strange when Larry refers to the protesters as we. Then Phillip Agnew tries to justify the riots by saying that black people weren’t getting any attention until they started burning things, which is a little over the top. I would have loved to see Martin Luther King Jr. on the panel after comments like that. Then Larry starts talking about white people riots and how they don’t burn their own things, which I’m still curious as to what that was about. I also enjoyed the comment by Kerry Coddett about white people rioting over sports games, I wasn’t paying attention to skin colors, but I think sports are a pretty universal thing. Anyways, here we are talking about racism and riots instead of important problems like the neglect and death of innocent people.

You know once we almost had a riot here in our small town. The KKK were having a parade through town and a riot started to break out against the parade (even though we didn’t have a lot of diversity around here). Guess that was one of those “white people” riots with their stupid first world problems…
